Hi all,

Just had my MY08 hatch sti go into limp mode and the OBD reads the following fault:-

ho2s heater control circuit low bank 1 sensor 1

Any tips on resolving or if it needs a new part any pointers on best place to acquire?

Generally means the heater element in your 02 sensors knackered so new sensor needed

on my bug sti its a denso 22641AA042 but best check for your car as its newer

the hatch runs a new style sensor i'll get you the part number. the older ones wont do the job

Went to fit the new sensor today and the part listed above that I ordered is not the correct one. The one that needs replacing has a male electrical connector and is the same as this:-





I can see what the issue is, looks like when the ProDrive decat pipe was fitted the cable was not secured correctly and rubbed against the shaft, shearing the cable. I have tried re-connecting all of the cables though the fault will not clear. Is it possible that this has damaged the sensor? Also does anyone have the correct part number for the one pictured above?

I looked for it though could not find it. Have spent hours trawling the net to get a definitive answer.

Bank 1 sensor 1 is the front sensor in the headers which is the sensor part number I gave you in relation to the fault code.

Bank 1 sensor 2 is the rear o2 sensor & is way different to what you originally wrote
the part number for that is 22690AA850

the one in the picture looks like the one that fits my bug sti. the one in the ebay link from rob is different and seems to be the right one?

Try swapping the 2 heater wires round, theyre both the same colour so you may have them mixed up.

The fault code is as read from DashCommand and Torque Pro. I have not checked the other sensor as I figured it must be about that sensor as the wires had sheared, plus it was messed with when the decat pipe was fitted.

I will check the other sensor and swap the 2 black cables on the other sensor in case I got them mixed up, pretty sure I didn't though as the one black one was largely in tact.

I had a similar issue just after having the car mapped about 6 months ago, though the mapper came and the issue had disappeared. The mapping experience was disappointing as after a 3 hour wait it was done in less than 15 minutes from a well respected mapper. Could there be an issue with the map?

The fault code usually relates to a wiring or sensor issue, The vehicle does a self check and reads resistances from each sensor as like a reference reading. if that's disturbed or not existent you will trigger a fault code. Highly unlikely that the map is at fault to be honest.
