Default 2003 Impreza WRX Smoke From Bonnet

hello all,

So i was driving my 2003 impreza wrx the other day and pulled over to answer a phone call. During that phone call i noticed smoke coming from the front off my car. so i popped the bonnet to take a look and the engine was covered in water/coolant?? The smoke seems to come out off the front grill not so much the scoop?

at the same time its also developed a loud sucking noise during boost?

any ideas would be great. thanks

p.s the car does not overheat

Have you revved the car with the bonnet open to see where the coolant is coming from? Split plastics on the rad would be my bet.

thanks for the fast reply, i havnt revved it up with the bonnet open but i did think it would be a leak. Ive left the car ticking over with the bonnet open and nothing has been leaking. what would cause the loud sucking noise??

thanks again!

the noise is bound to be a split vaccum hose or one has popped off. rev engine whilst under the bonnet to try and see/hear where its coming from.

is the coolant all over the engine block? ive had to replace 2 metal coolant pipes this year on my bug sti as they were corroded and leaked. both were a bitch to get at to replace. one came from the header tank and ran under the inlet manifold across the block and had to be stripped right back to get at it.

Mine did similar, it was a split top hose, tiny little split, appeared when the system pressurised, sprayed coolant all over the engine top.
