Default Intermittent Engine Cut Out

MY99 UK Turbo with Alcatek, Walbro, decat. V Power or Momentum only. Currently running on a base map by Simon Roe after the ECU was upgraded.

On a few occasions, the engine just cuts out while driving. Turning the ignition off and on again, the fuel pump primes constantly and the engine doesn't fire at all.

Pulling the battery off for a moment seems to reset whatever's at fault as the fuel pump then primes as normal. However when the engine starts it is very rough and tries to stall, requiring a bit of throttle to keep it running. There is a very strong smell of fuel from the exhaust (more than their normally is!). Holding the throttle open for a minute or two (with engine off) seems to clear this issue leading me to believe it's over fuelled significantly, sticky injector? Failing FPR?

Just thought I'd ask if anybody has encountered a similar issue before I start tearing the fuel system down!

Cheers,

Tim.

Scratch that, must be an electrical fault, given that pulling the battery corrects it.

Thinking crank sensor at the moment, due to the fact that when it cuts out, the revs drop to zero. This is assuming that it pulls the revs from the C/S?

New symptom.
On light throttle at 1500-2500rpm it sometimes stutters slightly. Applying a bit of throttle clears it.
I originally thought this was because of the l/w flywheel, it's been going on for a while, but it's just started to get more frequent and a stronger stutter.
