fuel thieves ? filler neck snapped to fuel tank
As per title has anyone experienced fuel theft where force had been applied to actually break the aliminium casting on the filler neck ????
This is on an audi S4 avant and is going to cost in excess of a grand to fix as it requires a whole new tank.
there are no signs of force or scratches on the locking flap (admittedly not a particularly strong feature with audi) and can't think there is possibly anyway it was self inficted.
Only noticed after a half term return trip from to north wales where it was parked up for a couple of days in a car park filling up on the way home and about half a litre spilt on to my shoes
At home it is on a drive with cctv and security lighting pointing almost directly at it so unlikely to be where it was
Don't know how this is going to wash with insurance or is even worth the excess.
