Boot lid - Lock Change
Hi All,
Im going to be fitting an STI Boot lid and spoiler to my WRX the weekend, has anybody got a guide or some tips for fitting my square lock to the new lid?

Does the new boot lid have a square hole or a round hole?
If its round it can be done, I have done this, how ever the hole has to be marked out and re-cut to the square shape

Usually dead easy. Once you uncover the rear of the lock, dismantle any parts attached to it, you will see a sort of forked piece of metal, flat and with a slight lip at one side, pushed up against the lock and hard up against the inside of the boot. This is a spring clip, and rides in a groove in the lock barrel. Simply pull it outwards with the lip, screwdriver or pliers.
The lock then comes loose.
Replacement is a direct reverse. Make sure to not lose any washers, and that the spring clip is entered in the groove in the lock barrel before pushing fully home.

If its the same as My Hawk
There will be a large black plate coveing the lock mechanism held in by three bolts, remove the bolts and the plate will come out.
There is then what I would describe as a plastic 2 pronged wedge holding the lock in place. this slide out towards the centre of the boot lid.
Unclip the rod to the lock and it will pull out from the outside.

Hope that whoever fitted the circlip thing holding the barrel in place, put it on the correct way.
Swapped my bootlid a little while ago, and it had been fitted incorrectly, had to push it off, not pull.
Damn the metal innards of the bootlid is sharp.
And it hurts when it makes friends with the bones in you knuckle.
