Top 5 mods to the 2008 Impreza WRX STI?
Hey all, new to the forum, only my second post.
So I wanted to check with you knowledgeable bunch as to what are the most cost effective and beneficial modifications I can arrange for my new motor.
I'm sure this topic has been discussed many times, so apologies for that.
It only has at the minute an HKS panel filter and the standard Prodrive Milltek quad tail back box.
Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Its already had the engine rebuild luckily as an oil pump failed with the previous owner.
I don't think a sticker will be used, looks crap and not my sort of thing.

1. Forge the engine (and block pinned if you want more than 400bhp).
2. Swap the exhaust and a CAIK. The standard prodrive system was made by scorpion not miltek and is nothing special performance wise.
3. Sort the handling. It's ****e as standard. (ALK, updated rear ARB, front strut brace, power steering revalve and poly steering rack bushes, prodrive springs and four wheel alignment)
4. AP brakes on the front
5 Enjoy!!

Only my opinion and not necessarily in order.

Okay okay ✅
Top mod.... Stage 1 handling mods as offered by Powerstaion or Litchfileds
Then.... Prodrive springs and 18" wheels - anything less looks pants.
And .... H&S 3" sports cat exhaust Can be made to mate to your rear box.
Remap if not done already.
Performance Friction two piece front discs with Ferodo DS 2500 pads all round and racing fluid.
A sensible answer for ya fella

What about the air intake system? Is the stock airbox particularly restrictive with a panel filter or is good enough? I don't fancy getting an induction kit cone if I don't need one.

The box is more restrictive than on previous models, should be good for 400 but I replaced mine with a mishimoto when I had mine engine rebuild. Seems most people replace it on the hatch as one of the first tweaks.
