Default Fuel pump failure :-(

My Scoobyworx Swrd 290 fuel pump has died after only 4k and I'm not happy!

It had been making a weird noise when you turn the ignition on for a while now.
Sounded like a dying cow lol

Then the other week the car sounded slow to start and would stall every now and again.

Then it was down hill from there any wide open throttle or a bit of boost would cause the car to stutter and hesitate.

Already done one last year when it happened mate. 99% have been replaced odd one pops up every now and again but only 25 were shipped from the bad batch and I've sent about 30 replacements out already so I'm asking for faulty ones returning now as I've been had on at least 3 or 4 lol.

What date would the last ones have been shipped? I bought one last year from one of your group buys Darrell.

Send me a picture of the pump if its not fitted. If its fitted and working then it should be fine as the bad batch ones failed within a days of fitting them in the majority of cases. If it goes faulty on you remember you have a 2 year waranty

As for dates im unsure as it was a while ago now but i can tell from the pumps themselves by looking at them

It's on the car already but I've only done about 40 miles with it fitted. I fitted it last year, went to MOT and then put the car in storage again. I'll see if I can find the box. Is there a serial number on the packaging maybe?

well done for sorting these out Darrell

I have had 2 walbro pumps fail on me, each within 12 months, the 'reputable' seller didn't want to know. I now run a 'cheap' one from 'race spec' in Sheffield, only cost £35 and has been running fine for over 2 years now

We will always honour warranties we offer, its part of building the reputation we want to prove we have. Lots of walbro fakes about which maybe why they didn't want to sort them out. I get offered fake walbro stock regular and boxes look genuine as do pumps on the outside, it's the insides that are the issue. Genuine walbro have the support and backup of walbro. So no reason not to sort out faulty pumps. Many sellers buy fakes and sell them as genuine as their margins increase massively. Make sure any walbro purchases are made from reputable companies to ensure there genuine :-)

I'm almost sure my pump has SWRD in large writing on the side of it, it's black too. I'm not bothered about it unless it packs up but with the mileage I do that could 10 years away lol

This is REALLY worrying!

I just ordered a Walbro pump from advancedautomotives.com who have supplied great products at a good price in the past. I'm a little worried, my mechanic said its almost impossible to spot a fake and knows of lots of pumps that fail. He went as far as recommending that i only buy from RCM. But the price is jut a stretch to far for me!

Where did you buy your pump from. We should know, so we can avoid.

Mine came from the group buy dated 21st August 2014 so it's not the colossus range, does that make much difference?

i didnt realise there was a problem with your pumps darrell. i bought mine in september 2014 it came in a white box with a number on the label : GSS342 i was about to have it fitted in the next week or so before a remap with andy f soon. any idea if that might be one from the bad batch? i can post a pic also if it helps identify it. thanks.
