Default Air filter

I'm considering a new air filter, I currently have a HKS panel filter but considering getting a cone filter.

My friend has one on his focus ST and made his car sound much better.

Not really sure on the reviews on a cone/panel difference.

Anyone able to shed some light?

Dont bother. It will suck warm air and lose performance. Also will risk damaging your maf. And finally if the maf housing isnt exactly the same as the standard one you will need the scaling changed with a remap.

The standard airbox with an uprated panel filter is the best until you want 400bhp or more.

Agreed cone filters are a waste of time.

A cone filter stuck on to an otherwise standard engine is a complete waste of time and is even harmful to the engine. However, on a suitably modified engine they are a required upgrade to help extract maximum power.
