Default battery relocation

Im relocating my battery to the boot of my blob. I just need a definate answer to some questions.

Firstly can somebody show me a link to a suitable lightweight battery as im struggling to get my head around which one to buy?

Also can i just earth the negative terminal in the boot and earth the starter motor in the engine bay? Then i only need to run 1 live cable through the car to the starter motor. I will then take the positive from there to the fuse box.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should aim to keep the earth cables as short as possible so yes earth the battery in the boot and the starter under the bonnet. I can't help with the battery as I am still running an OE battery in the boot

If i have to ill just buy a normal full size battery. Ill save on cash that way aswell. Is it just a straight fix from negative terminal on the battery to the bodywork in the boot?

You can fit the full size battery and change later on which I plan to do. earth straight onto the bodywork but making sure you get good metal to metal contact - https://www.scoobynet.com/962051-jon...re-work-4.html

The sketch looks right (if a little Johnny aged 5) but add a fuse/circuit breaker between the battery and the starter...

Use the same size for both live and earth - I used 4AWG for both

You will probably only get ring connectors big enough for the battery cable - just make sure they are big enough for whatever bolt/screw you are using. Crimping is easiest but solder joints are more reliable.

Don't worry too much - gold, brass, steel etc will conduct as well as each other

Be careful that your cable is up to the job. I used some "battery/starter" cable similar to the OE size but when ran boot to bay it caused too much resistance meaning the engine turned over very slowly and the alarm would chirp as it did so!

Replaced with the largest cable I could find and the problem went away.

Make sure you put a nice big fuse on the live as near to the battery as possible it will stop any faults setting you car on fire. Also beware of fumes from batteries... they are not apparently dangerous inside. Lastly make sure the battery is very very secure. In an accident any rubbish fixings will be torn out and that battery will have quite some momentum behind it.
