Default Engine bay swirl pots

sorry if this has been gone through before..

I can't seem to find much info on engine bay swirl pots/kits.. anybody with an engine bay swirl pot and an oil catch can that can share their experiences ?

I have slight room between the battery and suspension strut but could be tight.. I'm not keen on the boot option.

thanks in advance

Any I've seen have been on the firewall behind the oem fuel filter to the left of the nearside front strut and have been installed while the engine is out. It requires a neat install with swirlpot and pump grouped together.
I've installed mine on the otherside in front of the offside wheel arch were the oem air intake snorkle used to be. I've placed the pump in the offside innerwing just behind the foglight. It works quite well but there must be better places for it.
Just plan it carefully and select a swirlpot with it's ports pointing one way if possible as that will help to increase siting options.
My catchcan is on the same side bolted to CAIK pipe bracket and interrupts the crankcase breather pipe to the turbo intake. For the head breathers I have a small inline filter which has a wire centre.
This works for me as the only time the catch can gets oil is on launch starts at Santa Pod, never on track or road use.

If you search catch can you will find lots of advice.

As for swirl pots I would put it in the boot.... but I guess it's not the most practical option. If you post a pic of your bay I may be able to advise some stuff you could bin to make room.

Hi there

Really depends, but I think Lichtfield selling their swirl pot which does have bracket for 044 and this can be fitted under bonnet or in engine bay or you can ask Frayz over here if he can make for you one which he is running, its similar to Lichtfield or over on 22b not sure his name selling his swirl pot with 044 bracket and can be used under bonnet, just search there swirl pot under bonnet,I will try to dig out his name

Hope this helps

Thanks,Jura

Ive done one recently, 1.5ltr pot sitting in the n/s rear of the engine bay, feeding a 044type pump sitting on the chassis leg by the screen wash bottle. I just fed it from the std filter and return pipe, then wired it from the std relay, fitted nice and neat, worked really well.
