Restart in sport mode 2008 wrx

Dear all,

My 2008 wrx sti appears to restart in sport 's' mode but then can be changed.
This may not be such a bad thing

but does it indicate a fault?

Default to sport every time you switch on and off so your fine

Although the s drive light comes on automatically (when I restart), it doesn't feel like its in s mode when I'm driving. Unless I switch the s drive dial.
