Default water pumps

WhHy are people suddenly thinking they need to change their water pumps when they do a cambelt? seen this on a couple of sites now inc here.

Is someone going round saying it needs to be done or summit?

Total waste of money

Agree,some of the great engine builders have said on here plent of times the waterpump doesn't need to be changed with the Cambelt,only reason I did is because my waterpump was fooked

if its fooked then thats a different story. had my old calssic for 10 years and was still on the origional pump. Looks like the pump in my type r is origional as well, 17 years and 105k miles.

I was just doing it has my car is 14 years old and on 123k and is supplied with a kit i am looking at. And doesnt cost any extra man hours so better safe than sorry. Plus with my luck it will go after having cambelt done
