Best GC8 radiator
Morning all,
After a new GC8 radiator aluminium for my 99 classic rb5, I've looked on ebay etc and there is quite a few to choose from. Is there any specific brand to go for or are they all the same.... Was looking at the japspeed ones but others are £50-£60 cheaper cheaper.. Cheers Ben

I have a mishimoto on mine, whilst the quality seems good. Its a fact that the Oe one is the best at cooling, which lets be honest it what a rad is designed to do. I will be swapping back to oe. Zen ran an Oe item on thier 700bhp time attack car for years.
Knowing what i know now. The only non Oe one i would go for would be a Koyo item.
Very very high quality! Theres a reason they cost £450 where other alloy items cost between £80 and £150

I bought a radiator off Ebay for my 05 Jdm Sti. It was £57 delivered,so no surprise that it leaked from the start near the bottom where the plastic is crimped to the alloy. Binned it and bought a Japspeed all alloy one, which I,m very pleased with. Steve.

I thought that Koyo actually were the parts manufacturer for the OE one?
At least I think they were for my V4 Type R??
I had to replace mine and found a barely used koyo one which was supposedly the OE I thought.

That being said Mishimoto is a good brand if you were looking to get an alloy one.
Japspeed ones seem OK as well but have not had direct feedback on them.
As said I was in your situation and went with OE after doing the research : ).

My experience with japspeed products isn't great, Took a chance on their Fmic for my classic due to the fact that I couldn't get hold of a HDI Hybrid at the time. When we mapped the car, very very experienced mapper said that the core was holding the car back drastically. So this is another item that needs to be changed.
If I were you I would buy Oe, if you want alloy then get a mishimoto, if you want to spend a
Lot on an alloy one get a koyorad

OE ones are perfectly fine. I had a Japseed aluminium one which I purchased second hand (new condition) and it didn't fit properly. They look nice but OEM ones are perfectly fine.
I got one off ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMP...item43b8c161c4
comes with a 2 year warranty too

Had no idea they were that cheap!!! Fair enough looks aren't everything but I just want something that's gunna do its job at the power level I'm running/wanting to run.... Do the OE ones end up running at a higher temperature?

Not sure what you mean? The OE ones do the job they were designed to do perfectly well. The car wont run any hotter no - if that's what you meant?
Mine has been on a year now with no issues.
