Default Impreza classic turbo options

Been wondering if to upgrade my turbo before getting remapped, i know i've been told with my standard turbo on 1998 2000 turbo i should just get around 270bhp which is fine.

But been thinking while i'm there should i aim abit higher, remap will cost £600 mark, so thinking of aiming closer to 300bhp.

Still undecided all depends on cost really, what are my options for turbo's?

Guessing TD05 would be one option, any help would be great, ideally i would like the same power deliver as my old WRX 1993 had, that threw all its power at you like a sledge hammer, sure it gave me whip lash

SC32 would spool well and should pull just over 300, not mega bucks either

if you only have a uk2000 turbo then you'll only have a td04 - which maxes out roughly 270 - you could swap it for an STi ihi VF34 turbo which along with the right mods (walbro 225 fuel pump, yellow injectors and a decent panel filter) along with a remap can see you the healthy side of 300/300

TD05, there are a couple of companies that can rebuild your TD04 as a hybrid which should make around 300-310bhp with quick spool

Ive been searching for alot of info on turbos mate. I had a ukt2000 a few years ago on a td05 and found it a bit laggy. The sc32 ( hybrid td04) will do 300+ hp with stock spool but is quite expensive compared to what you can get for a couple of hundred second hand. Ive got anothe ukt2000 now and want a nice low down torquey setup without it costing the earth. Im looking at getting a vf28 of an sti v6 which will do your 300 hp and gives great spool from what i have read.

Hi I am also looking for a turbo upgrade from my td04 , ideally would like 330 ish bhp with early spool and pull hard to the higher revs , not running out of puff like the td04 I am interested in a vf35 , but lack of rebuild for them puts me off and they all seem to have a crack on the hot side which sellers say makes no difference in performance , but when I spoke to my mapper he said the crack can cause mapping problems with boost creep

I used TD04, VF28 and finaly VF35.

VF28 was nice and fun because all the power would just hit at about 4 or 4.5k but then was quickly out of pull.

I got now a VF35 with a crack in the housing. I have no problems with it it starts boosting from about 2000 rpm, full boost at max 3500 and pulls all the way to the red line. I am the most happy with it.

Crack and Boost creep ? mapper was well happy with the turbo when mapped it and was saying if i get a front mount i`ll see about 340 out of it. He did had a bit of work to bring under control, but he said that's just the apexi being dog **** at boost control.

I'm wondering if thats what i had fitted to my old WRX, as my WRX would just bang all the power in one big hit, throw you back in your seat, the girls would love it, well they would scream and hold the seat belts with there life

I'm looking for a hard punch, not a slow build up. Just thought it may have had a different turbo than the TD05 as the guys mate who bought it of me said it was faster than his WRX
