Default Help Please fitted HKS Dump

Valve now car misses and stalls, switch off and start the car and its fine for a few minutes before it starts missing and stalls again, Any ideas what might be causing this? Had a bailey dump valve on there and no issues

Thanks You in advance

I think generally a dump valved needs to be mapped in?! (somebody correct me if I am wrong) could be running too rich/lean could be a vacuum leak.

There is no performance gain to be had with a vent to atmosphere dump valve so I would stick with the stock recirculation valve.

All that for a whoosh noise, throw it in the bin or sell it and put the proper one on.

The HKS valve will be sitting in the open position at idle I bet, this is allowing unmetered and unfiltered air in to the engine. I tried an HKS (fake admittedly) on mine and it did exactly the same thing. Have a look when the engine is idling and check if the valve is open.

yup - fake valves more prone to leaking. The only real way to map for them is to switch to speed density (mafless) setup. Quality units should give you no trouble though.

What condition was the gasket in when fitted and is the vac line on dump valve secure? Throw up a few pics lets see it.

Not strictly true as OEM DVs can leak at high boost levels (> 1.7Bar) so a good quality DV would cure that issue. There are alternatives to using a VTA though.

A genuine HKS should be fine and if it isn't then return it to whoever you brought it from as it will no doubt have set you back £200-£300. Or was it a second hand/cheap ebay job? If so then that will be your issue as fake ones leak and are generally ****. A proper one is very unlikely not to work.

Bought it as an original looks good quality but who knows, contacted the guy I bought it off who said the same thing happened to his car, he put a bigger diameter vac pipe and it sorted the problem out, I've tried it aswell but it's still stalling and missing, Dv works fine but after say 10-15 minutes of driving the car doesn't seem to like the hks dv, as if it's rejecting it lol, could someone look at the manifold in the pics and see if I've got the dv vac pipe in the right slot.

Thanks

It's very hard to tell a genuine one mate. The chinese are so good at making copies that look identical. But if you don't buy it new from a decent retailer for £200-£300 then it's likely a fake. There obviously will be some genuine second hand ones out there but I wouldn't trust them. It's a shame because the proper SSQV is a great bit of kit that I have been running for 8 years plus with no issues.

Thanks FMJ, I've put my old dump valve back on, it seems there might be an issue with the car ie boost leak, As car is not running right, it's going slowboy racing on Mobday gonna get Neil to check it over.
