Default Help needed with non starter

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could help, there must be a lot of these threads started but it's worth a punt when your stuck!

I have a 95 WRX Version 2 that wont start.

Now first thing the fuel pump isn't priming with ignition ON but I wired a bypass for this previously to get this to work. which worked fine for a while.

Then after going for a drive I was getting fuel cut off on boost so had a look under the bonnet and the hose had popped off the top of the pressure sensor causing an error code, so I tried to clear this and when I connected the green connectors under the dash all the cars relays started clicking!

Then I noticed with the ignition on I was getting no priming of the fuel pump again and now if i try starting it the car just shuts off completely and takes a few minutes before any key or electrical functions work again.

Really strange but i've been putting alot of time into getting this car back on the road and don't want to just end up scrapping it now due to a dodgy electrical fault...

I've tried swapping the Z4 ECU like for like to see if its that but no luck.

I tried disconnecting the negative terminal for a few hours to see if that cleared anything but still had no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated.

connector under rear passenger seat for fuel pump is a known weak link - or is this the one you bypassed?

Hi spender.

I've not touched the rear passenger side.

There was no signal from the ECU to the relay so I jumpered it from an ignition feed.

And i've replaced the fuel pump.

I have an error code of 24 and 45 also but would they stop it running all together?

45 map sensor causing fuel cut on boost
24 icv won't start/idle

Have you done the correct ECU reset connecting both green and black connectors?

Battery is fine i have a trickle charger for it and keep it topped up in the garage.

I got the fuel cut on boost hence pulling over to reattach the hose and try to clear the error message.
That's when i found that the moment i turn the ignition on with the green and black plugs connected all the relays start clicking! very weird! So cant do manual ECU reset and have tried starting the car on a different but identical ECU.

I disconnected the green and black plugs and tried starting the car and no luck.

The gremlins really have a hold of this one!

All fuses in both boxes checked, main earth leads checked?
Did all dash lights including cel come on when green&black connected, did you try starting with them connected?

Fuses seem fine, not sure where main earth lead locations are to check?

The car will turn over now as I put the negative feed back on the battery properly...

All the dash lights incl cel came on with green&black connected and all the relays start clicking like rapid fire! but it will turn over just obviously no fuel pump priming...

If you have power going to the fuel pump and it's not priming then it all points to faulty pump.

Have a check on the pump electrical connector underneath the rear seat as Spender mentioned. The connector on my car was partially melted when the pump wasnt priming. Was shocking to find a partially melted connector.
