Big end bearings - EJ20
Evening all,
Just a quick question, is it possible to fit new big end bearings by just removing the sump, oil pick up and splash guard? I'm going to be removing my sump to fit a baffle plate and I'm thinking about sticking new big end bearings in at the same time if it's possible?
So, does anyone know if is possible?
Obviously I know that if I can take the bearing caps off then I will have to slide the pistons up the bores but not too far so as I don't contact the valves with them. I can gauge this by taking out the spark plugs and using a rod down the hole onto the top of the piston so as I push the piston up the bore I can judge how far I've gone.
Other than taking this into account are there any other reasons I can't change them in this manner?
