Anybody Used These? Gearbox Blast Plates
Hi All,
Just wondered if anyone here in the UK is using these? getting good feedback on NASIOC... Seems like a VERY cheap option if they actually work, one guy is running 750bhp (650NM Torque) through it with no problems yet

I guess potentially it could force the input and output/layshaft apart, which would mean the gears aren't meshing properly. Which could as Sam said, lead to stripping the teeth off the gears. Though having never seen the guts of a nackered 5 speed, that's complete guess work.

Seems an awful lot of money for a couple of bits of metal that you bolt to the side of your gearbox.
I doubt very much they are quite as 'marvellous' as they're made out to be.
If they really were so effective then some of the big tuners in this country would be selling them.
By the time you've got them fitted I'd bet you'd be over half way to buying a 6 speed.

I have and use these on a 4.11 5 speed from the 2000 RS 2.5
The biggest issue with the 5 speed is that it is a butterfly design case. So under load it flexes outwards. This can allow the gears to move around which in turns causes the above picture. (or extreme amount of torque dumped all at once)
This simply eliminates the cases ability to flex.
And you can install them yourself. Well as long as you can remove your tranny.

Still not entirely convinced on those plates though. Can't see how the gearbox casing would flex at that point.

Having just read all of the material linked to on NASIOC, I'm not fully convinced.
All evidence, for or against, just seems to be anecdotal at present.
I'd love for it to be proven to work and I'd buy one in an instant if that were the case.
