Default N/S breather pipe not connected to rocker cover. Any ill effects?

Apart from the smell inside the car, would there be any ill effects from this pipe being disconnected? Its basically been open to atmosphere.

The breather system is entirely stock and I have found I have been using oil.

The positive crank case ventilation won't work properly and the intake will draw unmetered air unless you have cut it off/plugged it. Keep it all connected and stock.

Hmm? Flippin good chance it was like this when I mapped it. I wasn't thinking about the unmetered air, more the oil consumption problem.

The two rocker breathers join in the middle of the block and then connect to the Intake pipe post MAF. So yeah Unless you plug the pipe it will suck in unmetered air.

Also the hole in the rocker cover if left to VTA will suck **** into it when the PCV system sucks during intake manifold vacuum conditions. If you plug that hole then you stop crap getting in but it means that when the PCV system sucks through the crank case it cant pull fresh air into the engine on that side. Lack of fresh air leads to acidic vapor building up which is not ideal.

A lot of people bin the PCV system and do all sorts with catch cans and VTA all of it but although this does work with no obvious side effects it's not the best way to do it. PCV is there for a reason, Subaru knew what they were doing.

Totally agree mate. Keeping it stock on the breather side if things. Just cant believe I left the damn pipe off, probably from when I fitted the engine back in.

On the plus side its running rich at the mo but I need to recheck for det and adjust the fuel....again!
