Default Bad jerk/power cut during rapid acceleration after a corner !

As titled
Have done a search and what i can make out is the fuel pump but what do peoples think ?
It only ever happens after a corner/roundabout and if i accelerat hard. It cuts for about 3 or 4 seconds then starts again

Dont really know much about the history of the car by the looks of it its quite standard but then again it has a samco pipe kit and nice little boost gauge
Maybe someone on here knows abit more about it reg number RX03UEF
Thanks for any help with the problem

Or simply keep the tank half full or over if u plan on sum spirited driving! Cheap fix!

I've heard of people getting fuel surge over half a tank if pushing hard. Does it still happen if the tank is brimmed? Is so then fuel surge doesn't look to be ur problem, although ur description of the problem sounds very much like it.

No i haven't not with a full tank will have to give it a go
just find it weird that it don't do it on a straight or slight corner
But coming off a roundabout it will do it 100%
Silly question but will this damage the engine ??

Of course it won't do it on a straight road?

Fuel surge is the fuel sloshing to one side under heavy cornering and starving the engine of fuel.

Yes it will definitely destroy an engine quite quickly. So either don't drive it like colin mcrae, or fit a swirl pot is my advice mate

Ok just never heard of someone fitting one to a standard engine could it be just the fuel pump cutting out ?

Youre gauge could be faulty and reading higher then it actually is - i do know mates who never let their imprezas go below half a tank for this exact reason

There is no reason why you cannot fit a swirl pot to a standard engine. To fit one you will need a second fuel pump from the swirl pot to the engine whilst the in tank pump circulates fuel through to the swirl pot. You will also need to put a firewall behind your back seat.

I have this fuel surging problem also , its bloody annoying ,never had this problem with any other car iv owned , **** part of Subaru's design along with their gearbox's

I have this problem also, it's been like this since I've owned the car (1year) I've had it serviced and fuel pump changed no difference, also tried with 1/4 half and full tank of fuel still no difference, any help?

Had a similar problem in a version 4,would cut out on cornering. Problem was water in the fuel tank Which sinks to the bottom of the tank but mixes up when cornering. I had a rotten fuel filler pipe which was letting the water in. New filler pipe and drained tank and problem was sorted.

Nope the filter is fine, and there is no leaks from filler neck when it's brimmed to top, always happens on hard acceleration out of corners /roundabouts

Maybe you've answered this already but does it do the same in a straight line? Try driving along at a normal/off boost throttle and then snap it open as if you're accelerating out of a corner.

It's done that once from the top of my head, and I was thrown forwerd like I've hit a brick wall i eased off the throttle then accelerated again and it was fine

Around 260-70 has got full decat exhaust td05 z4 ecu 255 fuel pump, oh the cars a 1994 Impreza import

wont be fuel surge then, without wanting to sound bad my hawk at 400 only did it at 1/4 of a tank when the wrong shape fuel filter came with the upraited pump. at that power it wont be fuel surge, i suspect its hitting boost/fuel cut.

Guessing it's not been mapped?

I don't know either. Fuel surge is to do with the fuel moving away from the filter under hard cornering.

I would find it easier to get fuel surge with less power because I can corner harder and get on the power sooner!

What fuel are you using? I had a similar experience in my old classic when the garage ran out of super unleaded and had to use normal. It seemed like it was misfiring when giving it some
