I’ve just purchased my first Subaru - a Hawkeye WRX and I’m loving it!!!

It came with an ATV dump valve that I’ve swapped for an OEM recirculating one. However, now when I let off the accelerator after accelerating quickly I get a slight surge of acceleration before the engine starts to decelerate – it’s like the engine still has some pent up energy - this didn’t happen with the ATV valve.

I have seen similar behaviour on a previous turbo car I had (Golf Edition 30), so I don’t necessarily think that anything is particularly wrong, but does anyone know if fitting a different recirculating valve (e.g. Forge) would get rid of it? Or is this just totally normal for recirculating valves?

if its been set up for it the changing it will affect it, switch back and see what it does

Not too keen on the ATV really - nice pops from the exhaust on let off, but not too keen on the loud dump valve sound.

I believe that the car was tuned by the previous owner whilst it had the ATV on it.

Do you reckon a better recirculating dump valve would make a difference?

Not if it's been set up for the VTA valve.
