Surge on accelerator let off – due to OEM BOV?
I’ve just purchased my first Subaru - a Hawkeye WRX and I’m loving it!!! :)
It came with an ATV dump valve that I’ve swapped for an OEM recirculating one. However, now when I let off the accelerator after accelerating quickly I get a slight surge of acceleration before the engine starts to decelerate – it’s like the engine still has some pent up energy - this didn’t happen with the ATV valve. I have seen similar behaviour on a previous turbo car I had (Golf Edition 30), so I don’t necessarily think that anything is particularly wrong, but does anyone know if fitting a different recirculating valve (e.g. Forge) would get rid of it? Or is this just totally normal for recirculating valves? Thanks and great to be on the forum! |
if its been set up for it the changing it will affect it, switch back and see what it does

I believe that the car was tuned by the previous owner whilst it had the ATV on it. Do you reckon a better recirculating dump valve would make a difference? Cheers. |
Not if it's been set up for the VTA valve.

Ok thanks, I'll save my pennies then and live with it - it's very minor.
Cheers. |
