Hi folks.
Just trying to find out if another maf sensor could replace the early classic green maf?
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere before that another (possibly up-rated) one would fit, but can't remember what one and if there was anything else that needed doing as well
Any help will be appreciated!
Thank you

Doesn't the Nissan 300ZX/Fairlady Z32 (orange label?) one work?
They are prevalent on eBay (at least, they used to be).
I believe it's the same diameter tube and allows for more bhp - like in the 400-500 range (OEM green is around the 350-370 from my dim memory).
There are threads on here on how to wire it up to the OEM loom, before the remap - use the search.
Personally, because it'd need to be rescaled and therefore, really, a remap, I'd sack it off and just get MAFless ESL ECU upgrade for the remap (because you'd have to get the MAF-based ESL or Apexi ECU anyway!). Hey presto, no MAF to worry about (although it has to be said, the MY93-98 hot wire type allegedly rarely fail - unlike the more fragile MY99/00 ones).

Cheers for the info, but its cheaper for me to change the maf atm than pay hundreds to go maf less
So I need to stick to either standard maf or an easy swap if its possible. Then I just need to find one at a decent price

So really, you're just wanting a replacement like for like MAF? Existing one knackered, I take it?
To avoid inappropriate AFRs/running problems, then you'll have to get the exact same OEM green label as what you've got then. Don't need to worry about that it's not an 'upgrade' as you don't intend to remap/up power.
And even if you do at a later date, then, as said, the green label, should allow for 350+ anyway.

I thought I would have to go for the same standard maf but thought if there was a way without forking out lots of cash, then I would think about up-grading
Not sure if maf is knackered just yet, but car not running 100% and maf is a possibility. Although Matt tried his spare maf and that ticked over really rough compared to my one. 2 core plugs were changed but still running a little rough while cruising
Oh and standard recirc dv on order
