Are you intending on doing the rebuild yourself?

the newage sti engine is good for 400-450bhp in standard form mate (im guessing yours is a newage)

rcm/gt spec headers are a favorite along with a venturi up-pipe/harvey up-pipe (wrap it all in decent heat wrap or even get it ceramic coated to aid spool up)

if you insist on going for a rebuild then take the opportunity to increase the capacity to maybe a 2.1 stroker/2.35 stroker or have a forged 2.5 built

i have just purchased a forged 2.5 blobeye sti with a gt30 turbo, its making around 430-440 bhp but with the extra cc there is no lag at all and the thing goes like a missile

is your car a wrx or sti?

if its a wrx then i would settle for around 320bhp or its gonna get very expensive (trust me on this)

if you want more then sell and buy an sti

noooooo shreksta ive been considering this for a while i thought id finally made my mind up ha. i see it as a lot of hassle and if i was gona sell i probably would try something else. how much are we talking? i dont really know much about where to go from here but let me just say what i have a rough idea of so far and you can put me right,
labour not included.

6 speed upgrade. £1500
forged pistons and rods. £800
Fmic £200
650cc injectors £150
headers £300
bigger turbo vf39 maybe not sure if its enough? £500

what am i missing so far?

forget forged pistons and rods as you will require a full rebuild ££££

cheapest way is to get a used sti8 long engine from mattyb on here, around ~£1300 then sell your engine £300 ish

the sti8 long engine will take 400 all day

dont forget clutch to handle the power £300

fuel pump £100

sti brembo brakes £450

decent suspension £700

never heard of a vf39,i would go sc42/rcm400/sc40

just sell and buy an sti

i know what your saying shreksta. im confused again now :s in all honesty those mods would have been done over the next 2 years. bigger turbo fmic etc january then gearbox and engine mods the following year. so the price weve listed so far isnt really to much of an issue. but then again i think about buyin sti gauges and sti parts and it totally makes sence too make the jump.

whats needed to get an sti up to the 400+

I'm with Skrek, I'd never spend a fortune on a WRX.

Good luck and enjoy either way Brett
