Hi,

So my classic is having issues starting from cold only, the starter either spins freely or engages and makes a grinding sound.

The bendix was replaced a few months ago so i'm sure its unlikely to be this, i've tried testing it out to see if its the ring gear also. If I engage a gear and roll her forward when cold to reach a new point on the flywheel it sometimes catches and sometimes doesn't, about 50/50.

It starts fine from hot everytime, am I right in saying that as its starts fine from hot everytime it can't be the ring gear?

My mechanical knowledge isn't great so i'd appreciate any views on what the issue could be.
