rev limit
yip maybe good idea but what i find is that it drops out of power band between gears so looking to hang onto gear longer and to maybe get bit more power out of each gear especialy third as i use this alot at knockhill round the bends
ps where is turnipland

Now why would you want to do that?
I assume your MY97 is a 200 turbo...and they do run out of puff at 6000 rpm...the turbo won't do much over that.
The Impreza is ALL about midrange, don't forget that.
There are other ways to make the car a tad snappier.

Hi done a few mods like install block, injectors, and td05 turbo from a ra rally car which was running a special ecu with antilag which i didnt get my hands on so at the momment i am useing the uk spec ecu which seems to run ok but i keep hitting the rev limiter very quickly in 1,2,3rd gear so i thought i could maybe lift rev limit somehow ,the car also has full mongoose decat exhaust and cone air filter ,chipped and useing a hks fuel controller to get the extra fuel in so you see all i really need to do is lift rev limit without spending a small fortune on a new ecu

I can raise it on MY99/00, but have no way of doing it for MY98. Can your "chip" not do this? The WRX models with the same internals have a 7500 RPM red line. Without forged pistons I would not want to go to 8250 RPM. My turbo is only a hybrid TD04 so it is not worth increasing it beyond 6990 where it starts to limit.

It is a MY00 would have to take the 90 degree bend off the TD05, and a VF would have been a better choice. I had the option of testing a new hybrid TD04 and it is a good compromise although of course it does not make silly power with that housing. However it does very happily make 20 PSI from 2700 to over 5000 RPM, dropping to 17 PSI at 6000, lots of airflow for the low lag/low boost threshold. Not enough to give the standard clutch/gearbox any trouble I hope and keeps it very streetable.
seems like tdo4 is spot on lets you run big boost mid range but doesnt allow you to have to much boost top end which is were my car developes all its power 5500rpm or above, below 5000rpm my car is very laggy so you can see why i want more revs top end , looks like i might just have to buy a programmable ecu for maybe more mid range

Below 5000rpm your car is very laggy???? Somehting is wrong somehwere. A td05 should have plenty of boost by even 3500rpm. If you could get the RA brain, it should rev to 8000rpm, although the speed limiter will also take effect. I would also think something is wrong if the power drops off after each gear change. Any I have driven are fairly well on the power again after changing gear.
I know it is a small turbo I have, but on changing up at 7000, I am typically dropped back into a point at least 1500 RPM after peak torque arrives. Like Stevie says it sounds very odd after a gear change not to be in the meat of the torque.
yip i agree something amiss but engine came from a rally car which was rallyed in southern ireland and i have always had boost trouble since fitting engine it wont boost below 17psi even when wastegate fully open, i also found when going to change plugs they were of a type only sold by prodrive for use in engines with antilag which was fitted on source car, but saying that once in 5th gear it can hit rev limiter at which the car is off the end of speedo ,car runs 19psi boost but i do agree there is something funny with engine as it only goes like **** top end
