JGM I tried ringing you eariler to see if you would be avalible for a map. I'm using the dv that came with the car it's a no make thing. When I change gear at low revs it sounds like the turbo is stalling because I can hear chatter it's only when I go to higher revs that I can hear the dv working. Do you think it could be leaking or the spring too strong in it?

And I sprayed wd round all the pipe joins but I couldn't see anything. With it being on tick over its on vacuum so wouldn't the oil just get sucked in and I wouldn't see a leak?

No miss calls or answer messages but signal is rubbish at home

The spring could he too strong hence stall at low boost and dump at higher but as long as not a vf2x turbo it shouldnt be an issue and not your current issue. I have seen dump valves open when fmic fitted but doesnt sound like your issue.

As to leak. Depends on the year of car as the idle air isnt always taken through intercooler pipes. You mention esl so must be 93-98 so wont be sucking air through intercooler.

JGM would you mind if I gave you a ring at a more convenient time to book in and discuss this further? I had an issue with no boost before I installed the fmic, I thouht Id solved the problem after a lot of changing of parts, spark plugs, boost soleniod, cleaning conectors adding extra earths etc but after abit of tlc the problem stopped and it was fine. I don't know if this is the same problem that has returned or its a new issue.

Yeh I had it before the fmic install. But It went away. I blanked off the dv completely and took it out for a run and it still wouldn't boost so I'm not sure if the dv is the problem. It's had a coilpack conversion from a 2002 could it be one of those breaking down? I don't know how to test them though as the problem is only on boost not when driving normally

This whole thing started when I was advised to clean my boost solenoid (which has since been changed) but would it completly stop the car boosting?

Have you got a boost gauge fitted?

Plumbed the boost control solenoid back in correctly?

Boost solenoid.
Only take two seconds to test it see if it's working

How do you test them? I changed the boost solenoid over to see if it was the problem. Unless they were both ****ed

Suprised no one has asked. What car; obviously classic as ESL, what turbo etc.

Does your boost gauge work? Take a photo of it with the engine idling.

1995 wrx jdm import, running td05, 440cc injectors, 2002 coilpacks, straight through exhaust.... And ind kit. Yes it works it sits at a vacuum of 20psi I believe. It has been set to 1.1 bar by the mapper but won't go past 8psi now it just stutters and won't go. Asif Its a bad misfire.

Carnt see it being the boost pill because it lives inside of the hose part way down. You would no if you took something like that out .As above I would go with dump valve

If your certain it isn't your dump valve or the piping to the new intercooler.I would then look at the boost soloneid and the pipe work going to it and make sure your pipe work is screwed down properly and not just screwed on ***** nilly old way.i found that if my jubiless clips wasn't screwed down properly I would not hit boost properly. If all else fails I would be looking at the actuator and you can check to see it if it works as well

8psi is wastegate pressure so it looks like the boost solenoid could be the culprit.

This whole thing did start a few days after I cleaned out the boost solenoid. I did buy another second hand one and it made no difference but there's nothing saying that the new one wasnt ****ed
