Unhappy Changing ignition barrel/lock with no keys present?

I think I may have dropped a bollock and lost my (only) key to the car

99 uk classic

If I buy a lock set and ecu how hard is this gonna be, without the ability to unlock the steering?

The cars in a garage so space is tight also.

A little bit of good news for you.

You don't need to change the ECU. You just need the lock barrel and a key that fits it and a transponder and chip that match.

The cars main ECU is not matched to keys or anything. There is a black transponder box on the steering column which attaches to the ring sensor around the ignition. This box is matched to the small chip hidden in your key. So if you have a box and key chip that match then jobs a goodun. I had an argument with a guy on ebay who stated that you had to buy the ECU, transponder and key all from the same car. I have tried it and its just the key and the box that match. You can use a matching set with any ECU.
