Where's my engine number? (Please)
Does anyone know where I can find the engine number on my 2001 UK300 WRX Saloon please?
A pic would be more than helpful as I am mechanically challenged..
Many thanks, Kim

The Classics have a rectangle VIN plate near to the passenger side suspension turret top. It has the 10-digit 'Engine type' code embossed in it*.
I assume your Bugeye model is the same? Just pop the lid and take a gander.
* This is only relevant if it's on its original engine. Obviously.

It's had a new engine and I'm trying to find out if the engine has been replaced or the original re-conned.
The engine number should be 5 numbers and one digit.

Well, it's gonna be hard to suss. As I'm pretty sure it ISN'T stamped on the block anywhere(?). Although stand to be corrected.
The only other thing was: on the black timing cover there's a small rectangular silver sticker with the engine code*.
But, of course, it might not be there anymore. And/or it might still have the original timing covers/sticker of the old engine, regardless of whether it's been changed, etc., etc...
* Once again, this is true of Classics - not sure if the New Age is the same(?)

Give David O'Brien a ring, at API. He'll probably be able to help you out...
