Default Dashboard lights!!

Hi All,

My Subaru is having a problem on the dash, I believe it to be the LEDs for the backlight on the dash, but basically when it gets to the time to turn the lights on, the dash only lights up in certain areas. The OUT TEMP. backlight does not come on so I cant see that, and there is a part of the speedo which is not light (starting from 100 up) as well as the needle for it. And the Rev counter back light is not light in the lower range (0-3/3andhalf). Anyone had a similar issue? is it a simple case of changing the lights? ETC?

Thanks in advance guys.

Bran

Might be LEDs, might be bulbs.

Take the instrument cluster out and look...it's not difficult.

Not sure if newer cars use LED's but classics are bulbs. Unless changed by someone else previously.

Take the clocks out and check as above.

Take cowl off , then take out the screws holding the cluster , with the lights on and the wiring still connected swap a few of the working bulbs into the dull sections , they come out with a quarter turn.
Then take a blown bulb (that'll be the problem I'm sure) and get replacement.

If it's bulbs, swap every one for new.

if it has a cable driven speedo, undo it carefully from gearbox end
