Default Replacement turbo

Hi all...
I have a 98 turbo 2000,with a panel filter,full decat and a walboro 255 pump.
The other day jgm fitted and was trying to map an esl,it was noted the turbo was getting leggy.....Simon suggested checking the wastegate washer as they crack....
I have checked it and it does look like it's cracked about a 1/3rd of the way round...
Now...do I take a punt on a second hand td04L or would getting a td05 16g or similar a better option if I wanted more power in the future......
The car isn't thrashed to within an inch of its life,it's a daily driver....

Cheers

16g is a very cost effective upgrade. It will be slightly laggier than the td04 but the top end will more than make up for it.
