Default Exhaust help!

Just a quick one.

Wanted a list of parts needed for a turbo back 3" system for a 05 WRX.

Any help/explanation is much appreciated!

downpipe centre section backbox

turbo-downpipe gasket (whatever this is called)
cone/ring gasket (downpipe-centre)
flat gasket (centre-backbox)
2 spring loaded exhaust bolts (downpipe-centre)
2 normal exhaust bolts (centre-backbox)
2 rubber mounts (exhaust hangers)

the 2 sets of bolts may be the other way around I cant remember off the top of my head

Haha, sorry bro! I do appreciate the help!! Been working away with limited connection.

I like you were very specific. So is an up pipe before the manifold?

The 'up pipe' is the short pipe that links the manifold to the turbo's entry.

So in terms of gas flow, then it's AFTER the manifold, to answer your question.

Basically, for the '05 Blob WRX (OEM items):

Engine > unequal length manifold (headers) > catted up pipe > turbo > turbo-back 2-part catted downpipe > cat-back centre section > back box

Thanks joz. I don't know why I said before the mani, I meant before the turbo lol.

So for a full decat, to mate with a 3" back box/tail pipe I'd need decat up, decat down (which removes the remaining 2) then finally a 3" cat back section to connect the down to the tail pipe?

Also, which is the simplest cat to swap on and off for MOT?

The easiest to swap is the one in the centre section.

Thanks Dutch.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could point me in the direction of some decent parts for the job? Not wanting to spend crazy money, but don't want cheap crap at the same time.

Also you need the back box's entry pipe to be 3" for a true 3" system.

I'd get a Harvey (RIP) up-pipe. Some other trader on here now sells his stock - think it's AS Performance ( can't remember)? There are a range available designed for specific turbo/bhp applications. Just contact the vendor with your headers type/turbo/mods/intentions, so you receive the optimum one for your application.

Then I'd get a Cobra full cat-back 3" system - good VFM and plenty of combinations to choose from.
