Default Hesitation - coming onto boost

Hi There,

Please bare with me as i'm new on here.

I have recently purchased a 2003 Blob v8 sti uk.
The car has 45000 on the clock and is in a standard state, apart from a 2.5" pordrive cat-back exhaust. The car does not have the PPP.

The car drives well, but i have noticed it being a little jerky coming onto boost. If i floor it, it comes onto boost and pulls well throughout the rev range.
I have checked the plug gap and it is fine at 0.8mm. It is also running the correct plugs and they are almost new. Plugs appears to be burning fine also.
I have checked induction and intercooler hose clips for tightness and they also seem fine.
I have not owned a Subaru for the last 7 years. I can't remember my Wrx Classic having this sort of problem ?
The best way to describe it would be as though the accelerator pedal is notchy. The throttle seems as though it wants to be on or off. Nothing inbetween.
There is no coughing or spluttering, what so ever. It runs and drives well.
No problem if you want to drive it flat out everywhere, but obviously that's not an option.
It makes you feel as though you have to adapt to the way it wants to drive, not the other way round.

Hope all this makes some sort of sense ?

Thanks in advance, for any help !

I am 95% confident that It's your boost solenoid, you can just clean it with some MAF cleaner, plenty of info on the web on how to do it.

I had similar problem with my wrx bugeye. I tried cleaning the MAF but it made no difference so changed the MAF for a new one and it's much better now.

Hi There,

Thanks for the replies !

I am currently away at work for the next 2 weeks.
I will clean the solenoid and the MAF when i arrive home.

As i said before. It has been a while since i have owned an Impreza. I am just getting to grips with their typical problems, and working my way through resolving them.
The car does drive well and pulls through the rev range. It's just this hesitation that is really beginning to bug me !

Thanks again

Paul
