Annoying noise from engine bay help please!
Hi,
I've got an annoying whine from the engine bay. It's most evident at 50+ and at a constant speed but only makes the noise when my foot is on the accelerator even slightly. It stops when I remove my foot. Hard to hear it under hard acceleration as engine and exhaust is loud!
Drives fine though with no loss of power.
It's a high pitch type of noise but not that loud. Gets louder the faster you go.
I,ve ruled out gearbox as no noise in any gear when off the gas but in gear. I don't think clutch release bearing as not connected with the accelerator.
I am thinking the turbo bearing. No loss of power or boost but I'm thinking the whine is from that. I've had expensive 'guesses' before though so just wondering if anyone else has had this before going down that route?
It's a WR1 with 36k. Been speaking to someone else who has same symptoms and he's not sure either. My local garage not sure so trying my luck on here if any experts out there?
God I hate noises as they drive you mad!
