induction kits, are they a good idea?

Default induction kits, are they a good idea?

Evening guys, wanting to get some induction and turbo noise so looking for an induction kit for my 2001 wrx, do these cause any problems with the maf sensors and is anything needed? car currently is very stock. any sugestions to makes or would any do?

I was wondering the same and as far as I've gathered there a heat sucking bad idea and general consensus is stick with standard box and something along the lines of a KnN panel filter

seen a couple which go into the wing and connect near to the standard intake ram, so would have thought it is quite good cold air. but obviously dont want to make the performance worse

Seen those also but being so low down I would be worried about water getting in there

I'm sure adding an induction kit ideally needs to be mafless as the original airbox set up smooths the air flow before entering the inlet thus the maf gets a clearer reading. Many have induction kits and are generally fine though. You will lose power though rather than gain it maybe 2-10bhp depending on under bonnet heat unless it's shielded.
