Default Cam position sensor

Right coming home through dartford tunnel earlier this even decided to give it a bit of welly. Hit around the 5k mark and the engine management light pops on n stays on.

Fault code reader found P0340 camshaft position sensor A circuit bank 1.

I'm aware that sometimes the sensors can just break down over time. But would there be anything else that could cause it to flash up that code
Car drive n pulls fine.
FYI it's v7 wrx wagon

Cheers
