Question Scooby world oil filters advice

Just some advice or reviews on the above. I`m having an oil change done next week at my local reputable garage who have always looked after my cars and there unit is next to where I work.
I`ve bought the oil already which i castrol edge fst 5w-30 and im to get the filter but I dont want to cheap out so I`ve been on the scooby world website tonight and found the following but some have limited descriptions but the only one I can see with the anti drain back valve is or would these all have them, I know I can just call them tomorrow but I was hoping to get it done on saturday so I was going to order tonight. So I was hoping some of you have had a experience with any of the below and which one would be the best one for my car which is a 2004 impreza wrx blobeye

HKS Hybrid Sports Oil Filter at £19.99
Blitz Racing Oil Filter Subaru Impreza at £19.99
K&N Gold Performance Oil Filter at £12.49
Genuine Impreza Oil Filter + Sump Gasket at £16.00

Cheers in advance

Dan

A few places recommend this grade oil if this is incorrect which is?

HKS is high on my purchase list, would all the above have the anti drain back system?

It's generally accepted that 5/30 is too thin for the Subaru engine even though the book says it's ok. You'll find pretty well all the tuners/ engine builders recommend a heavier viscosity. 5/40 is considered the lightest you should go and preferably 10/40 or even 10/50 for modified engines.

10w40 would be a far better suited oil all year round.

Can you get a 10/40 that's fully synthetic? Most seem to be semi synthetic.

Im glad ive checked as the edge I can take back to halfrauds tomorrow, I must admit I only bought 5-30 fully synthetic oil as recommended by nearly eeverywhere and the manual, I was suprised as mine has always been run on silkolene 5-40 pro S fully synthetic oil. Should I use whats always been used or change to Millers Oils CFS 10w-40 Competition Full Synthetic Engine Oil-5 Litres? Infact opie oils is the only place selling silkolene from what ive found

Hi

A 5w-30 oil is fine for a standard Impreza that doesn't get hard use, it's a bit of a myth that Imprezas need thicker oil, there are some on here that are on 100k+ and have used 5w-30 all the time.

I would use a 5w-40 as it's the same viscosity as a 5w-30 when cold, so gives good cold start protection, but a little thicker when hot, which is a good option if the car has a few modifications or gets hard use.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul 300V, Red Line and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XF Longlife, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Gulf Formula G, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

As for the filters, a lot of it is personal choice. As long as a filter meets the OEM requirements, it's fine to use. We sell a lot of Mahle and UFI ones for all cars (and I have been told that they Subaru branded ones are re-badged Mahles, but I have no proof of that) and we have no problems with their quality at all. Filter specific companies make their own filters, but other companies tend to buy them from filter manufacturers and badge them as their own. We have UFI, Mahle, K&N and the genuine Subaru ones.

Cheers

Tim

It seems to be a divide on which oil to use and I dont mind a hard drive when it suits me so I went to Opie Oils last night for some Millers CFS 10-40 and I`ve go the HKS filter on order from scooby world. The buy button has been pressed so I hope all should be ok for my engine
Thank you to everyone on here for your views a big help as well as usuall

Cheers

Hi

Thanks for the order. If you use the code SCOOBY when you order, it gives the members discount.

Cheers
