Default Engine oil?

Hi all, got myself an impreza at the weekend. New to all this and the question has probably been asked a thousand times.
What engine oil is best to use? It's an impreza turbo 2000 uk. Running a new age top mount, td05, 440cc injectors, up rated fuel pump, panel filter and straight through exhaust. All the receipts say 10/60 but to me that sounds a bit heavy. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

10/50 or 1/60 I say for these cars- better bearing protection etc etc.

10/50 would be OK as your not too modded

10w60 is way to thick and only really suited for heavily modified and track use. for a near standard car then 10w40 will be fine i use 10w50 at 450bhp so defo no need for a 10w60
millers cfs 10w40 will be perfect for your car, great oil.

Hi

If it's getting hard use, I'd possibly go for 10w-50

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-659-10w-50.aspx

Those are really good oils, absolute top of the range ones, so go with any brand preference you have.

A 10w-40 is a better choice for normal use

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-657-10w-40.aspx

The best ones are the Gulf Competition, Motul 300V, Redline and Millers CFS. As a cheaper alternative the Fuchs XTR, Motul 6100, Shell HX7 and Millers XSS are good choices.

A 10w-60 is too thick.

Cheers

Tim
