Spares, Repairs, Breaking P1
Hi all,
After having ups and downs with the P1 (mainly downs) I am regrettably putting it up for sale as spares, repairs or just breaking it. Preferably I would like to see it go as it is rather than the hassle of having to break it!!
A brief outline of my time of ownership is;
Bought in Jan/ feb from Glasgow, drove home and the bottom end went!! Due to MAF issues!! Replaced the engine with a low mileage API built forged unit from a V4 type-r. I paid around £2.5k for the engine alone ( i have the build receipts for £5k+) then around a further £1k on various bits for it including all gasket set (specced by enginetuner himself for the correct thickness) as I had to change the V4 heads for V6 to match the inlet etc. To say it was a pain in the ar*se is an understatement!! We eventually got it fitted with new MAF and oil plugs etc and importantly primed the oil correctly. I then proceeded to try squeeze the car into a gap that didn't exist and basically ruin the frontend! It's basically all panel damage and hasn't been recorded. There's no structural damage but would need;
Bumper
2 wings
Bonnet (it's repairable with a small dent in it)
Passenger door
There is also a small amount of damage to the rear quarter (where the door meets)
It has the Alcon upgrade with the 18" alloys with basically new sessanta (sp) tyres
Vf35 turbo
Full stainless turbo back
It was allegedly running 360+ prior to it destroying itself, I do have a printout for this. I had it booked to be re mapped with Bob Rawle altho it never made it!!
Generally the car is in good condition for the circa 90k it has covered. Bar the front end obviously!
I will post pics soon. Any questions/offers pm or post. Text or phone on 07878786605
I am open to all sensible offers, trades and swaps etc

I'm sorry to say you will be lucky to see half of the 5k your hoping mate, they aren't fetching big money at the moment I'm afraid with running cars struggling to get over 5k let alone a smashed one which needs a fair drop of money spending on bodywork not to mention the map still required.

Nelly: I'm going to try and sell whole before breaking it. Will keep you posted tho.
Prodrive: I know bud, they seem to fluctuate in price from about £5.5k to £10k+ it's madness!! Im not expecting to get £5k back on it to be honest but as close to it as I can! You could probably scrape £5k or so out of breaking it but it's just a pain having bits go here and there and being left with the rest! I'd like £4k as it is before breaking. I did consider waiting to find another P1 with a blown motor and just put my engine in and break my shell, again this is potentially a pain to! Catch 22 really! Lol!

Hi mate, if you do break it i'd be interested in the prodrive oval badges on the wings so pm me a price if you're happy to sell them.
Thanks, stu
I would say that breaking is going to get you a better return than selling complete, especially with the engine spec but it is, of course, up to you.

Belibisk: Its got the APi clutch kit and APi Flywheel. It was replaced when the build was done and I'm sure the previous owner of the engine only covered 3-4k on it. It looked very low mileage when the engine was replaced.
Thanks
Hello again,
Right I've had a fair bit of interest in the car as a whole, which I would really prefer to sell as if I'm honest. So this is what I'm thinking at the moment, the first offer of over £4k will take the car as it is. Any inspection is obviously welcome and can be heard running and it may be driven on the drive to check gearbox etc. It is currently SORN and has no MOT as its been off the road for 8 months or so.
Other than that I will have to break it. Here is a quick list of parts available and prices, all ono and plus P&P. I'm not 100% on what its all worth so please dont burn me if you feel some are overpriced!!
Genuine 18" Prodrive alloys good condition with only minor scuffing with basically new Sessanta 225/40/18 tyres. - £500

VF35 turbo, no smoke, or rattles. Spools really nicely. Apparently made 360bhp on previous setup. I do have a graph for this but it seems a touch optimistic!
- £300
Fully rebuilt engine by Api at a cost of over £4300...bill to prove.
Rebuild includes steel rods, forged pistons, lightened flywheel, exedy organic clutch,ACL bearings. I had fitted a fully wrapped tubular manifold. Engine has only done around 6/7k after rebuild.....1500 miles of that was running in with no actuator and was ran in by the book by the previous owner. Always ran on millers cfs and changed every 2/3k. Previous owner had it fully live mapped by Bob Rawle.Very strong engine and very fast for the spec... was only running VF24 but Bob commented on how good it felt considering what turbo it had. When I fitted it the V4 heads had to be changed to the original V6 as the inlet setup was different. All new gaskets etc that were required were purchased from Alan Jeffery at a cost of over £600!! I have covered less than 100 miles since I had it fitted and that wasn't running any boost. - £2300

Prodrive Alcantara interior the seats are in excellent condition with no rips or nasty stains. The bolsters barely show any sign of wear. - £300

Genuine P1 spoiler with carbon strip. No scratches etc. - £250
Prodrive Alcon 4 pot calipers and discs. iirc they are 330mm with grooved discs. - £350
Standard P1 Prodrive tweaked suspension - £150
V6 ECU, its definitely been mapped before although I don't have any documents to back this. I would guess it's been ECUtek'd so you wouldnt need to pay for the license. - £200
FMIC not sure what make. - £100
Gearbox, nice smooth and tight. No crunches. - £550
Rear diff - £150
Rear Lights genuine - £150
