now im not planning on buying till early next year but that's for a number of reason main one being i want to search long and hard for a decent version i dont want distance to be an issue now i cant afford anything special just for as long as its turbo well maintained and tidy but what to look for is the question

Hello mate and welcome along. Feel free to attend some meets so you can get to know members, also sometimes you can get a lot more info face to face.
1st thing is are you after a lassie shape or new age, and what is your budget?

Don't worry about not being in a subaru, you won't be the 1st or last to turn up in something French! Coming to a meet can very helpful to get options and advice. Will it be a daily driver?

We normally have a monthly pub meet on the last Saturday of each month but this month it is actually this coming Saturday. Check out the esoc christmas meet thread. Then the 1st Saturday of every month we have the Southend run which can attract a lot of cars as well.

Welcome dude
See if you can get to this saturdays meet much more refined and laid back atmosphere for chatting etc...
Speaking from experience, the southend run isnt really a meet youd want to attend if not in a scoob
.... oh.... and DONT buy a hawkeye!

Welcome, which part of "Nam" you in, with out giving you address away!
All in the ESOC are friendly and plenty of good advice and banter!
If you do buy a hawk make sure it has been forged

sorry to be the bearer of bad news guys but its not just hwak engines that go bang, its all of em especially if they are not looked after. there are a few exceptions that had forged pistons from standard but even these are still not bullet proof.
ps my hawkeye is a blob in disguise lol

Ermmmm i would have to say they are both as bad as each other as its the design of the flat four engine(starving certain parts of oil etc) or the air fuel mixture set up that lets them down. I have opted for the 2.0 purely for power delivery and the rev range, sorry not being argumentative just trying to make sure everyone on here gets everyones opinion and can then make their own minds up lol
