Out of those 2 the AD08s all day long. However I swear by the Federal RSR for the price.
If you have the money the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are superb too.

Dan the myth about RE070s being cak in the rain is a load of **** from people who can't drive properly. They're a semi slick track based tyre that will obviously suffer slightly in the rain. There's an easy fix, don't drive like a *** in the rain or damp.
They're immense tyres of which I would have in a heartbeat if I had 17s still.

Personally as you're on 17s my order of preference would be :

RE070 - staggering dry grip, mega stiff sidewall super sharp steering response.

Federal RSR - As above but slightly less stiff, still a shed load stiffer than 99% of performance road tyres, great in the wet too. Great steering response, Mega dry grip, same compound as R888 (cheap too!)

Michelin pilot super sport - pinnacle of road rubber, comedy expensive

AD08- not used but heard good things, however I'd still prefer one of the above.

Haven't used my AD08's yet but the new one has just been released AD08R which I am reliably informed is a stickier incarnation (140 tread like the RSR ) with less rolling resistance than the out going tyre. I have bought a set of each to try

Depending on what size you want may make your decision easier. 225/45/17 is available now, however other sizes are being rolled out over the next few months. I have been trying to get a set for the classic in 215/40/17 but they have yet to be released, and aren't expected till October.

Never a truer word said IMHO

don't drive like a *** in the rain or damp
Drive to the conditions and be mindful what's underneath you. Especially if you have a heavy duty ARB on the rear as well

This doesn't make your decision any easier but I have a set of track wheels for the S202 with REO70's and a set with AD08R's And then a road set with AD08's

On the classic the intention is to run a set of RSR's for Road and AD08R's on my BBS wheels for track or driving like a ***...see above

Any of the ones Frayz mentioned are gonna be win tbh There was a time when I would go for the Vreddy's hands down but there's a lot of choice for different fast road/track applications especially with an up rated motor like yours

I'm with you Ed, the T1R's (I also run these) are ****, especially in the rain.

Tempted to go down the Goodyear F1 Asymmetric route next month, a mate has just put a set on his fast Focus and it has completely transformed the car.

Once that is done I think I also need Skidmarques to do my geometry.

May join you on that. Been a few years since mine was done and I missed the club day. Spoke to one of the guys at skidmarquees last week. Free check, about £50 adjustment depending how wonky it is. Camber and caster extra cant remember how much though.

Also fitted a pair of F1s today, haven't had a chance to push her hard yet. Hoping it will be much better in the wet.
