Subaru Specialists in Essex
Hi Guys/Gals,
I was wondering if any of you kind folks would be able to offer me some advice?
Its fast approaching MOT/Service time for the ol’ girl and as it’s also time for a cam-belt change I was looking to take her somewhere that specialised in Subaru specifically.
Although I have lived in Essex for 3.5 years, this is only my 2nd year of owning the car and last year I simply took her to a local garage that left me feeling a little ‘done over’…There isn't a snowball in hell’s chance I would trust them with a cam-belt change and TBH I don’t really intend on going back there again if I can help it.
So, where to go?
I was originally looking at taking her up to the new(ish) Subaru Dealership in Great Dunmow. I'm not sure if anyone here has used them and could offer some feedback?
I am situated in Basildon, so for me that’s about a 40 minute drive away
It’ll be interesting to hear from people who have used this place in particular but I’m also open to suggestions/recommendations of anywhere else local-ish that I may have overlooked?
Thanks

I see you are in Basildon. Call Mike at Cyclone Motorsport.01268 764321. He is in Wickford. He builds cars from scratch, mainly Minis but does all sorts of crazy conversions.
He built by Banzai featured Celica Turbo.
He will help you with MOT too.

For those of you looking for main dealer stamps in their service history or subaru approved work; note my hatch has been with Perkins since the begining of the month and they dont anticipate doing starting diagnostic work on it until 26th/27th July

I gave Extreme Scoobies a call yesterday and she's all booked in for August!
Thanks for the recommendations guys! They seemed nice enough on the phone anyways.
Now to wait with baited breath..I hate MOT time...I always get so nervous for some reason...

You'll have no probs with Extreme , I've been taking all of mine there for the past 7 years or so , I wouldn't dream of going anywhere near a main dealers now days

For those of you slightly interested my hatch has been with Perkins Dunmow now since the end of June and still they haven’t dismantled the engine to discover what the exact problem is, let alone get warranty approval for the repairs.

As above, Paul at Xtreme.
Wouldn't take my Subaru anywhere else.
Couple of years ago (and the only time I've EVER taken it somewhere else) I took it to Mr clutch in Chelmsford. Never again. Chav central and I had no end of problems after they'd worked on it (although I did hear its a new bunch of people down there now)

I'm so sorry for your woes mate. I suggest calling Mike again to have the problem rectified, rather than going elsewhere and paying out again.
Best of luck.

Clever Subaru are Clever
I completely forgot that my service book was full- *doi*
So, rang Subaru UK to ask about how I would go about getting a new one and was told I would need to speak to a local dealership, rang a local dealership to be told they would have to ring Subaru UK first to 'check'
Eh? Its just a booklet people...
...waiting for my call back now...

Well- I've just dropped her off at Extreme
Fingers crossed...I gave her a 'Lucky Pre-MOT' bath last night...inside and out. If cars passed on looks alone, she would have no problem!
Now to wait for the call...

Lol, Hi Goose!
I picked her up this afternoon after she passed with flying colours!
All that worrying for nothing...
It feels good to see her outside again, it just wasn't right looking out of the window to see an empty parking space yesterday...
Now she's all good for another year, although we may be going back in a few months for a cheeky brake upgrade
Thanks for all the recommendations guys! I couldn't be happier x
