If you know someone with trade plates, it would be possible to drive it there IIRC.

I think what Speccy is suggesting is that you book the car in for an MOT first, that way you can lawfully drive to the MOT testing station, then get it serviced afterwards. That way you won't have any problems.

As long as the car's insured though

If the car is booked in for a service and mot, who says they have to do the mot first?

The Road Traffic Act!!!!

I got the impression that the car is going to Extreme. As Paul isn't an MOT garage the OP, in theory, couldn't drive the car to him. However, if the OP booked the car in for an MOT first, then take it onto Paul then he'll be covered. Even if the car fails it's MOT, the OP can still drive the car lawfully to Paul as clearly he would get any faults rectified during it's service.

Simple, get Nate's mobile mechanic mate to work on the car (on your drive) then book it in for its MOT and you can legally drive it there.

I'd also bear in mind that Extreme are just around the corner from the local Police RTA unit and ANPR will be in full force

Technically the car could be driven to an MOT, but wouldn't it need to be taxed to be on the public highway?

No, but I hazard a guess that when he said he was taking his car to Boreham he'd be taking it to Extreme, which as we know isn't a testing centre.

Clearly I could be wrong (it does happen once in a while!!! )
