Porsche Summer BBQ - 26th June 2011
The Essex Region of the Porsche Club have invited us to their Club's 50th Anniversary celebrations on 26th June, 2011 at Stow Maries Aerodrome, Hackmans Lane, Purleigh, Nr. Maldon CM3 6RN.
As you will know, they traditionally organise a BBQ which has been at Regiment Way Golf Centre, and last year at Hylands House.
This year, being a special anniversary for their Club, they decided on something different and will be holding their event at a WW1 aerodrome. The aerodrome is the largest WW1 site remaining, which was the home of 37 (Home Defence) Squadron, Royal Flying Corp., subsequently 37 Squadron RAF. The site houses a small museum and is now owned by Mr. Steve Wilson and Mr. Russell Storey of RS Performance, who are bespoke vehicle builders, manufacturing about ten vehicles a year for specific clients, the cars including their own hand-built engine, which provide awesome performance. For further details of the aerodrome see www.stowmaries.com.
Twenty other car clubs are also invited to attend and as always there will be a great range of cars to admire. In the past they have had about 300 cars and would like to exceed that number this year.
They are planning to have vintage aircraft flying in, possibly the Essex Air Ambulance, model aircraft flying displays and some historic motor vehicles.
There will be a pay-as-you-go barbeque, and a local publican will be supplying liquid refreshment.
They will run the event between 11.00am and 4.00pm and so it would be good if cars started to arrive at 11.00am because the entrance to the aerodrome is smooth concrete and single track for much of it's length.
NOTE They wish to raise as much as they can for cancer charities and the Essex Air Ambulance and this year they will make a charge of £5 per person, children under 16 years being free. Please note, there will be no credit card or debit card facilities and so entrance, food, etc., will be strictly cash only.
They also propose to hold a free raffle to which each paying person will be eligible, and they have said that it would be a nice gesture if each club provides one or two raffle prizes.
This promises to be a wonderful event and I hope you will all be able to come.
This really is an amazing event every year and shouldn't be missed.
I need to give them an idea of numbers attending so if you could put your names down that would be great.

Not long now
The Essex Region of the Porsche Club have invited us to their Club's 50th Anniversary celebrations on 26th June, 2011 at Stow Maries Aerodrome, Hackmans Lane, Purleigh, Nr. Maldon CM3 6RN.
As you will know, they traditionally organise a BBQ which has been at Regiment Way Golf Centre, and last year at Hylands House.
