What are the cons of matt blacking my car,i have been made an offer to matt black my classic,Does anyone know any problems for caring for it ie cleaning etc i heard something about bird crap?? cheers

There are LOTS of issues. Greasy finger prints show up, bird poop will mark if left on, scratches show up very easily. erm im sure there are more.

lots of the new RS500's had repair work before they were delivered

Except the rs500s aren't painted, they are matt black vinyl wrapped.

hi guys ive got a matt black wagon i had it sprayed last year and i love it!! i had it sprayed normal black topcoat with matt laquer which has give it more of a satin look which is so much more classier.as for washing it well its no prob atall just do it when its cool and not in direct sun light as it drys very quicly and will look a bit patchy as for bird poo and finger prints its the same as any other car but i must ask are you having it done proffesionaly or you going to do it with rattle cans or roller as my boyfriend done his with rattle cans and it looked good from a distance but it was well patchy and had no protection so when he washed it it just got lighter and more patcher lol but it was only an old escort lol most matt and satin black are wrapped not many spray that colour proffesionaly but my dad new somone in the buissness that sprays his cobras at work and hes the bollocks! not cheep though but worth every penny but one thing now is im scared to take the bloody car anywhere as i woudnt want anything to happen to the paint work as it would be a nightmare to match it up.pictures of my car are on the members cars on this forum.good luck and anything you wanna no just ask.mandy

just want to say bird poo stains any car if left on,and if the spray job is done propaly and you look after it well then its fine just remember not to polish it lol.i do actualy put a protector on mine and alls fine

No more expensive than any other custom colour really,the matt lacquer doesn't cost any more than good gloss finish.
I run a bodyshop and could do any colour your heart desires as i mix my own with a colour system in house.

funny you should say that when we done the escort for a laugh we went to a car event and we left chalk on the bonnette ans a note saying "leave a message" and when we come back it was hilarious to see the whole car covered in pictures and comments and the police even stopped to have a look and they thought it was great lol infact that car got so many looks as it was all stickered up aswell and it cost all of £40 and took my boyfriend 20mins to spray it, one night out on the front after dinner!! lol

thanks for the input guys much apreciated i have decided on gunmetal grey and am toying around with glittery metaflake on some test panels i cant post up any pics on here but should be some on facebook if you got me on there and wanna have a nosey big thanks to scoobygirl42 for the pm'd advice
