Default Gearbox repair it or get a new one?

is it worth doing this as can get one for about 600 quid .. also anyone recommend me a place to get it done

already spoke to extreme scoobys looking at 500 quid to just look at the box without parts... i was looking online but not sure what bearbox number i have or would need etc

have a look at you vin plate on your wings bud and get the box number off it,something like ty752vb etc

Joe I'd rebuild it personally, if it isn't mullered it's better to service the one you have, it's not worth chancing a recon one.

I dare say yours is the same box as mine ending B4AA

im thinking re build its only whining still goes in every gear etc

also think my cam belt was put on wrong after a chat with the fella at extreme scoobys says it sounds like its couple of teeth out or something

Whoops ! did he change it for you after this diagnosis, would be fairly irresponsible to let you drive away with a cambelt issue

Cambelt if incorrectly fitted needs to be taken off and put right like right away. I wouldn't drive it personally.

im not mate... im taken it in on saturday hopefully it will put right... just seems strange went in ok no gearbox whine or anything come out needing it ..

fingers crossed saturday i can get it put right or something done.. i dont no anything about cam belts so im pritty much in the dark

Hope it's ok dude.

Bents valves wouldn't be nice, did Paul say that the belt was too tight ? I know scoobs are weird lol but tight belts may sound like a whine in the box ?

you could be right about it being to tight..

mr clutch fitted it mate i spoke to paul about a gearbox repair ... while i was on the phone i spoke to him about it..

worst case im gonna send the car his way and get it all re done again
