I thought it was about time we let everyone know how the girls MLR car prep was going ready for the big race in September.
Unlike the boys, we have got off to a flying start & everything seems to be looking good - maybe we could even show the boys how it's done!
Our team TEAM SCOOBY DOO with the MYSTERY MACHINE is made up of the following;
DRIVERS
Jackie (MSOC)
Janine (aka Woodbitch) (MSOC)
Kelly 300 (ESC)
Hils (ESC)
Janine (aka Woodbitch) (MSOC)
Kelly 300 (ESC)
Hils (ESC)
CHEIF MECHANIC
B3n
Flat Eric (B3n's apprentice)
Flat Eric (B3n's apprentice)
PIT BABES
Jess (Flat Eric's Babe)
Trace (Pink Lady)

SUPPORTERS CLUB
Lin (with her feet up on a sun lounger counting down the final days)
Coz (fetching & carrying for Lin and the rest of the team!!)
Coz (fetching & carrying for Lin and the rest of the team!!)
... and anyone else who would like to help or support us both now & on the day!
For those who don't know, we relieved the boys of the winning car from last year - they couldn't wait to get shot of her!
Since then she has sat outside at our yard - right through the awful winter we had. That said, all she needed was a battery, and with one turn of the key she fired into life - sounding just as sweet as she did last year!

Simon (Ark) has given her a thorough inspection and has reported that apart from an oil & filter change she is ready to race again.
He has also fitted a new seat for us & took her last week to have the (MSOC inflicted) dents removed.
He is amazed at how good a car she is & reckons she will go the distance - again (he was even heard to mutter under his breathe that it may have been a mistake to sell her...)

Lin & I also destickered her whilst the boys played at getting their car ready, so all she needs now is a quick wash & rub down before painting can begin.
We are planning a get together at our yard on Sunday 22 August to get her painted & as near ready as we can. This will be followed by a get together at the local (Two for One pub -good food) to celebrate the first anniversary of the Team ESC win!!
If anyone wants to come up to this please pm me or Ark & we will send you the postcode / directions. Everyone is welcome - whether it's to paint, watch, supervise or just get in the way!
Finally here are a few pics from before & after the dents were removed...

On behalf of all the girls I would like to thank Ark for the help he has given - lets hope the Team spirit last throughout the actual race too!!!

Quick update!
Thanks Jackie & Janine for venturing into deepest Hertfordshire today, and for weilding a mean paint brush! Oh & my god how good is Janine with a roll of masking tape?
Seat in, harness in, one cushion required.
The car is really starting to look good - even better than the 'pink' thing from last year
We are hoping to have our last push on Sunday 12 September, though there shouldn't be much left to do then.
Oh, and girls, how pathetic did she make the boys car sound when we started them up

I reckon if it goes as good as it looks we`ve got some serious competition lads.

Well, the second coat went on today. The car is both looking & sounding good. Few graphics & swirly girlie bits to add, a make up mirror to fit, then we should be ready to Rock n Roll!
(said in an Aussie accent) 'Can you tell what it is yet?'

PMT Express
Looks much better for the second Coat.
Can't wait to see the finished article.
You don't need a make up mirror, just do what most girlie drivers do and adjust the rear view mirror so you can check your make up in it!!!!

Well today saw a gathering of both the teams at MLR HQ Hertfordshire - in full! Yes, everyone was there! Even The Boss got his hands dirty!
We were able to finish both cars all except for a few graphics and then gave them a quick blat around the field.
The boys soon discovered their car wasn't as good as the girls & quickly retreated back into the workshop. Well they haven't got B3n as their cheif mechanic have they!
After several frantic minutes of fighting over power tools they re-emerged chuffed with themselves that they had cured their little problem.
We are not sure if they resolved the fight over who had the biggest tool?
Everyone got a chance to have a go around the field and this was certainly a confidence boost for the girls - they were throwing grass out the back like an industrial Flymo - KevD would be proud!
Unfortunately Janine was unable to test her specially installed 'Bitch Switch' but we are sure she'll put this to good use on the day. We did give her some masking tape to play with as compensation.
Both cars look and sound good, although I'm sure everyone there without exception will agree that the girls car was looking very very good & is certainly the one to watch out for on the day!
A little bit of sad news though, unfortunately Kelly300 is now unable to join us for the racing which is disappointing both for her & the team.
However we have some good news too - we are delighted to reveal that Trace 'The Stig' Stott Hammond came out of retirement to give the car a test around the field.
When she stepped out after driving the grin from ear to ear told us she would now like to take her position as driver in the girls team . Welcome back Trace!
So to sum it up we have two cars ready to fight it out at the MLR in just under two weeks time, and all the drivers are looking forward to it!
So in the words of one of last years winning team lets 'AVE IT!

Thanks Hils & Simon for a brilliant day today.
It was great to see everyone, the cars looked fantastic, the Colt was even better to drive , and all rounded off by a lovely meal at the pub. A perfect day.
I still can't stop grinning when I think about test driving the Colt. It was the most fun you could ever have.......with your clothes on!
Can't wait for the MLR in 2 weeks!
Thanks again.
love Trace 'The Stig' Stott-Hammond x x

A couple of pics from the final weekend - just a few items we needed to add!
Notice Janine's own switch far right!
The vital item - will get plenty of use during pit stops!

I must remove that unused bracket reduce the weight a bit more for them. They`ll only find something to hang on it like the washing or ironing.
