Test drive it and then buy a poster of it, will be more reliable

Present company accepted, I would never buy a classic from a body shop.

I know my way around old fords though. Had loads of them in the past. Simple to run and easy to fix. My cousin had one of these years ago. It was great.

N cap, what's n cap.

I agree the second one would be one of the first purchases I'd make if I won the Euro Lottery tonight.

There's a nice mk1 cortina on there too. Out of my price range though. Might have sold the bm so was just thinking about getting something for a laugh for a while and then sell it on in a few months.

Not my thing, but I can see the temptation for a mkI, but a mk4, no sorry, they were rubbish in their day, and i'm sure they have not got better with age.

Escorts, Capri's, Anglia's now we'd be talking

I had a 1980 v reg 2.0 gl when I was a lad. One of the best cars I owned despite it`s size the handling was excellent. Cheap to run. Oh and you could always tell er indoors it`s a family car.
Go on you know you want to.

He does say in the ad the carbs might need setting. So it might have a pair of something on there already. Unless it`s a misprint.

Me finks the carbs are on the wrong side for a 2 litre. But there again maybe it`s the way I`m looking at it. Could be a massive overbore/restroke on a crossflow LOL.

I believe 1750 was the biggest cc safely achievable on a crossflow and then it had to be a 711m block or it would`nt last.
Could be wrong I`m delving a long way back in my memory which is normally only good for a few minutes back in time ask er indoors. LOL

Your first car was a mk4, then you must be a young pup. My first motor was an Austin 1300 with a MG 1275 lump in it and the speedo was a single orange strip which moved from left to right LOL Oh yes and Hydrolastic suspension
Oh god I`m getting old
Next one was a MK1 escort

So every month it went limp on me & one side of the car would be dragging on the ground. Not cheap to get refilled either. We fitted a new pipe by bending it round the sub-frame as if we had removed it it would have fallen apart.

i think the Austin princess was the worst example of a car with Hydrospastic suspension. Bought one cheap once to do up and sell on, the more I looked at it the more I couldn`t bring myself to inflict it on someone in a roadworthy condition. Just scrapped it in the end.
