Default Is it an offence?

I'm in the middle of moving out of the old dears and into my own place at last. Is it an offence to leave the keepers address on the log book for the scoob as my mums address?
TIA

Officially yes but as long as the address you register to is an address you can be contacted at then it wont be a problem, drivers licence is also an offence which carries a hefty fine, but it is never really enforced. H ope that helps.

As long as your mum is the 'registered keeper' of your car, I cannot see a problem

Re-register it using my name and address. Sorted.

Not to question your advice, there is a bit of an issue. If the OP intends keeping the car registered at his Mums address but keeps the car at the new one it will invalidate his insurance policy, which is a different kettle of fish, i.e: No insurance = £250 (minimum) + 6 points and worse case scenario possibly car seized.

However, if he intends to move but keep the car at his Mums there won't be a problem whatsoever.

Agreed re the failure to notify the DVLA of a change of address for his drivers licence though

My insurance policy will change to my address new address from Saturday, when I move in.
So you're saying I still need to change my address on the logbook?
The scoob has got to go shortly so it'll be a load of hassle to update the logbook and then sell the car

The biggest issue is always insurance, so if you change that to the new address it's not such a drama. As stated above, failing to notify the DVLA of a change of address, be it log book or drivers licence, is an offence but very rarely prosecuted for.

However, is it such a hassle sending the log book off? These days the DVLA turn things around pretty quickly (normally 10-14 days). Seeing that you're amending your drivers licence it seems daft not to update the V5.

Your call I suppose

Difference between me and you is that my advice is free where as you would have charged the OP £95 + VAT for the first 1/2 hour
