Memory Foam Mattress / Topper - Opinions Please
I have been having some issues with my back recently and a couple of people have suggested using either a memory foam mattress or 'topper'.
Has anyone else had experience of using one of these?
Assuming the feedback is good, any suggestions about where to get one?
cheers YUM

I bought a memory foam mattress last year and it is best money i have spent in long time. Aches and pains that i thought were just down to growing older have all gone. I dont wake up with pins and needles anymore and i need an hour less sleep.
But be warned it takes some getting used to. To start with i was really hot and really conscious of the mattress and it smelt like i was being chemically poisoned. But after perserving for 6 weeks or so i just kind of adapted.
I trekked around all the bed shops and tried all the mattresses out. They do feel quite different.
Warm wishes
Vicky

There is so much more choice now than when we first looked. There was only the Tempur ones which were/are mega bucks.
We got a unbranded topper in the end & it is great & still moulds & shapes like new.

I can vouch! we got a 3" topper and looove it. I would never be without one now... The Mrs loves it so much she got one for the spare room for the guests!
Cheap enough on ebay - about £50 I think.

I worked at John Lewis for 4 years in beds.....still work there part time for the discount so il give you my opinion.
Everyone always says they have a bad back and a lot of ppl do, they also believe they need a firm mattress, this is not the way forward. What you need is support, If you sleep on a mattress that is too hard you shoulders and hips (if you sleep on your side) will no sink into the mattress so you spine will be will be unsupported in the middle and sag. If the mattress is too soft you will get a hammock affect also not good. Its difficult you can do i roughly on weights i think its something like up to 8 stone soft 8-15med 15+firm but this all depends on height to. You need to lie on the mattress for as long as possible with as few clothes as possible to
.
Mattress toppers are ok but they are usually used to make an old or hard bed a bit softer and make it last a bit longer
Memory foam are good and work very well, When we sell them we always say they could be warm as you are sleeping on a rubber block in simple terms, which is usually in one of the warmer rooms of the house. They work best on bed steads because they well ventilated.
Tempur mattress where offering a test thing if you didn't like it you could send it back always good
We don't sell Tempur mattress just something similar.
Sorry its all very boring he he
hope this helps a bit

Thanks for all the inputs.
Assuming the sciatica allows I will go and try some at the weekend.
Spally will be in touch.

Neil did you not try getting Andrea to walk up and down your back with high heel's on or was that another one of your fetishes we were discussing or was that what caused it in the first place
